Resumo:
Molecular simulation methods provide a set of useful tools in the investigation of condensed-matter systems. In most situations these techniques are employed to assess the behavior under conditions of thermodynamic equilibrium.
However, many interesting phenomena occur in situations where the system under consideration is far from such equilibrium conditions. Here we will discuss two recent applications of molecular simulation techniques under such circumstances. The first concerns the rheology of supercooled liquid water and the second focuses on non-equilibrium relaxation behavior of purely repulsive binary mixtures.
